2021 Sechet V.V.
Sechet V.V. comes from a .60 ha holding of 80+ year old vines ---- "This is also aromatically cool and restrained with its overtly citrus-suffused aromas of ripe white orchard fruit, iodine and ocean breeze. There is borderline painful intensity to the dense, sappy and markedly stony flavors that conclude in a strikingly long, moderately dry and well-balanced finale. This is packed with potential and should prove to be especially long-lived. This beauty is first-rate Séchet." - Sweet Spot Outstanding, Burghound

"Lovely density and richness, with a nose showing ripe apricots, a hint of lemon peel and just a bit of butter. The texture is creamy and dense but not lacking in tension. Regal, substantial, but always elegant. This is made with the white grapes from the Senard monopole of the Clos des Meix, now biodynamically farmed. It is a blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Beurrot (Pinot Gris). The wine is rather quickly pressed and vinified without sulphur until the malolactic fermentation is complete. Ageing is in 350-litre casks (half new)." - 96pts, Charles Curtis MW

"Relatively strong reduction dominates the nose at present and prevents a thorough assessment. By contrast, there is good freshness and ample verve to the exceptionally rich, powerful and borderline massive flavors that enjoy support in the form of a very concentrated mid-palate and a notably firm tannic spine that imparts a chewy texture to the hugely long, mouth coating and tannic finish. This is breathtakingly good though like any self-respecting Clos du Roi, to note that it will need plenty of bottle age is largely superfluous.' - 92-95pts BH

2020 Gevrey-Chambertin
"A touch of flint plays on the nose that also carries ripe black cherry. The palate comes with vivid, expressive juiciness that holds real freshness - almost as of dew - at its heart. There is a lovely lightness of touch and yet every nuance of fruit and smooth tannins are done justice." - 94pts, Falstaff

2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru ---- "Slightly cooler, earthier and more sauvage-inflected aromas include those of black raspberry, discreet wood and a whiff of forest floor. There is excellent delineation and verve to the bigger-bodied and more mineral-driven flavors that, somewhat surprisingly, aren't quite as dense though they are both longer and more powerful on the moderately austere finale. This is well worth your interest." - 93pts/Outstanding, Burghound

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru ---- "A more complex nose features notes of poached plum, cassis, black cherry and a whiff of the sauvage. The racy and solidly voluminous and concentrated flavors possess a relatively sleek texture thanks to the finer-grained tannins supported the lingering, powerful and very serious finale. Very promising." - 92pts/Outstanding, Burghound

"This is aromatically quite spicy with its array of ripe but relatively elegant and fresh black cherry, plum and cassis scents. The succulent and very punchy medium weight plus flavors also possess evident power while tightening up on the markedly austere, serious and balanced finish. At least some patience will be necessary as this excellent effort is presently quite tightly wound." -93pts/Outstanding

"A ripe and expansive nose freely offers up its aromas of plum, violet, warm earth and a pretty array of spice elements that are trimmed in enough wood to point out. There is once again a really lovely texture to the larger-scaled flavors that retain both good energy and delineation on the moderately austere, sappy and firmly structured finish that displays excellent length." - 94pts Burghound
